Day 2 - Paris

Early rise this morning for the cab ride to the train station.  The Eurostar train ride was about 2 hrs long, we had breakfast on the train, time for a quick nap then hit the streets of Paris.  Our hotel - The Melia Royal Alma - is very nice (thanks Debbie!).  We got settled in and headed out to see some sights.

St. Pancras Train Station, London

We walked over to the Eiffel Tower.  Got a good sense of the scope of the building.  We had previously been to the 1/2 scale model in Las Vegas.  We didn't go up as we didn't feel like waiting 4 years in line for entry.  For now, pictures will suffice.

Lunch was delicious (and expensive!) at a restaurant called Francine's.  Good food though!

We then took a river boat cruise - it's just something you gotta do, yes it's touristy, but some great scenery.

Back to the hotel for some drinks, a shower and some rest before dinner.  We asked the bartender for a more reasonable location for dinner and he recommended Bar des Theatres on the next street over.  A small restaurant, but nice - local dishes.  The boys had the Chicken Basquaise and I had the Croque Monsieur - with a starter of Steak Tartare.  The waiter brought our food and asked if we would like some Sauce Americaine with our meal - we promptly told him we are Canadian and he politely whisked it away.

More adventures tomorrow!

  1. What is sauce Americaine? Ketchup or Ranch. LOL.
